The Institute of Geotactical Intelligence was founded in order to combat the threat of war, by Senator Pat Lenehan.
It is an intelligence service specializing in infiltration, counter-terrorism and sabotage. The organization was formed to combat the rising terrorism around the world particularly the nuclear threat spreading. IGI consists mostly of soldiers from countries' elite forces and scientists.
IGI has several spies and agents throughout the world and keeps track of any kind of terrorism or destruction related activities.It then sends agents, usually to nullify and foil these plans.
IGI is a very advanced and probably an espionage organization. During various cutscenes, many scientists are shown working on hi-tech machines.
